About Gemma
I can't remember a time when photography has not been part of my life. From my first Instamatic camera at the age of eight, to my Dad's lifelong obsession with camera kit, who terrorised every camera shop proprietor in the South of England, a degree in multimedia and many years of modelling, cameras have always been there.
I began my career in 2010 photographing families, and that understanding of connection, timing and emotional nuance still informs all of my work. Today, I create portrait commissions for families, women and executives, making images that feel refined, natural and deeply personal. I'm happiest when there is a person in front of my lens - my passion for portrait photography is rooted in the lasting relationships I build with my clients and helping them build confidence in front of the camera.
Trust and discretion sit at the core of what I do and I'm very passionate about it. Much of portrait photography lives in that delicate space between observation and relationship, and I take seriously the privilege of being invited into people’s homes, families and personal stories.
I’ve photographed a wide range of people and projects over the years, from editorial and commercial assignments to charitable work - most recently photographing The Rack Pack breast cancer calendar, a cause close to my heart. My 2020 lockdown portrait series Children of Salisbury has been a particular highlight, culminating in a shortlist for the Sony World Photography Awards. I've even photographed a torpedo. Yes really.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to experience some of the most jaw-dropping places on Earth. I’ve watched the sun set on Mount Everest, tracked the Milky Way from the middle of the ocean and seen the morning sun turn the Alps into a white sea of diamonds. I’ve jumped off turquoise waterfalls in the Grand Canyon and my adventurous spirit is always looking for new challenges and explorations.
Closer to home, spending time with my grown-up children brings me enormous joy, and has only deepened my awareness of how fleeting childhood really is - how suddenly the ordinary moments become the ones you would give anything to hold onto.
So that's me. Tell me about you...

I'M AN ADVENTURER, LOVER OF HUGS & PURVEYOR OF TERRIBLE JOKES
